Unlike September, which was a bit rainy and gloomy, October lived up to its reputation – beautiful and sunny and warm, but still, my skin has been craving more creamy, oily and balmy textures. A quick thought: I know that seeing all these products at once seems like a bit too much, but I am not using all these products all at once, or every day – they are spread throughout months and while some have been re-purchased, I aim to use them up before getting new ones.
My Evening Skincare Routine: Cleansing
Accordingly with change of a season and wearing more creamy textures during the day, I’ve been using the Balm Balm Little Miracle Cleanser (from my September Love Lula Beauty Box)- an oil based, specifically – a rosehip oil based cleanser, which I gently massage into my skin, leave it on for a few minutes so that the warmth of my skin melts the oil cleanser. I then rinse the cleanser and use either a washcloth to entirely remove the oil cleanser of do a double cleansing by using the Alteya Organics Facial Cleanser & Wash in Vanilla & Geranium: it gently cleanses and removes any of the remaining impurities. For the removal of eye makeup, I continue using the gentle creamy and non-irritating Kathleen Cleansing Lotion.
My Evening Skincare Routine: Toning
My Evening Skincare Routine: Moisturizing
While water-based serums are still finding their way into my skincare routines, in the past few weeks, I’ve been, again, using L’Odaïtès Replenishing Serum (read my full review here), which I layer with a light layer of either Jane Scrivner OO Cream or a thin layer of Nature’s Kitchen Super Protein Skin Boosting Anti-Ageing Moisturiser. A few days a week I opt for a rich and nourishing Balm Balm Little Miracle Balm. Every now and again, I thoroughly spoil myself with using only the magnificent Ere Perez Quandong Green Booster Serum – a poetry for the skin, as it delivers an abundance of hydration and natural glow. For the neck area, I usually use the very rich Nature’s Kitchen Rescue Cream (from my August Love Lula Beauty Box). For the eyes, I’ve been using the Madara Eye Contour Cream (from my August Love Lula Beauty Box). Whichever combination I use for my evening skincare routine, I always spray a hydrolate on the top – it melts the textures together and makes for a soft and glowy skin in the morning.
My Evening Skincare Routine: Masking
About once a week I use the Madara SOS Hydra Moisture & Radiance Mask (read my full review here) as an overnight treatment for softness and hydration – sometimes I use it alone or over the L’Odaites Serum. Also, about once a week, I use the amazing nourishing and hydrating Bloomtown The Spring Blue Clay & Indigo Leaf Soothing Mask (read my full review here) – but not as an overnight treatment; I just leave it on for about 15 minutes. For clearing up the skin and controling the oilness of the skin, I use the Clockface Charcoal Face Mask every 10 days or so.
My Evening Skincare Routine: Exfoliating
The exfoliating, as always, is a combination of chemical and mechanical one. About once a week, I use the Jane Scrivner AHA/BHA Resurfacing Exfoliator – a strong deliverance of AHA and BHA. Every 10 days or so, I use another acid treatment – the Madara Active AHA Brightening Peel Mask (read my full review here). As for the mechanical exfoliation, I’m using my long time favorite – the Andalou Naturals Lemon Sugar Facial Scrub, with L’Odaïtès Gentle Exfoliator (read my full review here) every now and again, especially now, since the weather is not hot anymore and this exfoliator is quite oily. And yes, the Andalou Naturals Scrub is also used for exfoliating the lips.
