Summer has bid us adieu, far too soon, and with chilly and rainy days, the September Love Lula Beauty Box is a well-rounded selection of Autumnal treats, from body and face care as well as makeup, covering: an aroma-therapeutic shower gel, nourishing body cream, a season-appropriate face oil cleanser and a mascara. As always, the value of the Beauty Box, which for the month of September clocks at £65, far exceeds the actual cost.
So, what’s in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box?
♥ Kathleen Natural Tranquil Fields Bubble Bath (150ml/£18.00). Back in December 2018, I received the Rose version of this shower gel/bubble bath – one of the best I’ve ever tried. And this one, the lavender one, is equally a sensual treat, both as a shower gel/bubble bath and as a calming aromatherapy product. This shower gel/bubble bath has a creamy lather, and makes the skin so very soft – silky soft. As a bubble bath, you’ll enjoy the calm, sensual feeling, with a lovely scent of lavender and vanilla. The only aspect of this bubble bath that’s not a pleasant one is the price – £18,00 for 150ml (even the current discounted price of £13,50), as shower gels/bubble baths run out quickly, making this exquisite product only for special occasions.
♥ Madara Infusion Vert Body Cream (200ml/£17.00). With a more chilly days coming, body care products are also something I switch up according to the seasons – light lotions make a way for body oils and body butter and – body creams such as this Madara one. While still not as rich as a body butter, it will be a perfect choice for Autumn, as its texture falls right in between of a light body butter and a richer lotion. The consistency is smooth and soft, and likewise is the skin upon application. It doesn’t absorb really fast, especially if you apply a bit more, but with massaging of the body cream, it soon leaves just a smooth texture. The scent is also lovely and inviting – quite on a citrusy side, given the Lemon Balm Leaf Extract. With little amount of this body cream that’s needed to adequately nourish the body, the 200ml will last a long time, making this body cream reasonably priced. Another great product from Madara, no doubt.
♥ Balm Balm Little Miracle Cleanser (30ml/£12.00). With hot days over, using only light lotion-like face cleansers makes a way for oil-based cleansers, and this oil cleanser from a popular Balm Balm Little Miracle collection is right on time. And since it was launched just recently, I expected it would find its way in one of my Love Lula Beauty Boxes soon – and it did. I gently massage the cleanser for a good few minutes, giving the cleanser time to melt and then either remove the cleanser with a (very) warm wash cloth or – when double cleansing – use another non-oil cleanser. This cleanser is quite a treat, along with a very lovely scent (though maybe % of essential oils might be a bit too high?) making it great for an aromatherapy ritual as well. It melt away the makeup and dirt, while not stripping the skin of its natural oils – the skin is cleansed and soft – but do make sure you remove the cleanser appropriately, otherwise, as is the case with oil cleansers, the dirt will not be removed properly which results in irritation and spots. This is the travel size; the full size of 100ml is even more affordable, but if you wish to try it first before committing to a full size, Balm Balm also offers a mini travel size of 10ml.
♥ Emani Soy Mascara in “Midnight” (10ml/£18.00). I’ve been looking around the products from this brand for quite some time, but there are certain ingredients which made ponder whether or not I’d actually try something from Emani. Receiving their mascara in this Beauty Box is thus my first try of any of their products. As with every mascara, the very first impression upon opening it is inspecting the wand – and such wands as this mascara has are not my favorite – plastic and sparse wand bristles, as the application is not as smooth and coating is – sparse. One coat of this mascara won’t do much, maybe just a bit of a color on the lashes. It took me three coats of mascara to gain something substantial on my lashes – after three coats, there was a bit more color, the lashes were lengthened, but I found it pretty difficult to separate them. The stronger suit of this mascara is that is quite smudge-proof and lasts all day, but it does feel a bit heavy on the lashes. With all that said, the price is too steep as well.
♥ Urban Veda Reviving Body Wash Sample (200ml/£9.99 full size).
This concludes my first impressions of this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box: with 3 full sized products, 1 travel sized and a sample sachet, covering face and body care and makeup: a face cleanser, a body cream, a shower gel/bubble bath and a sample of a body wash, with a common theme: Autumn is here. The Kathleen Naturals shower gel/bubble bath is a luxurious (due to price, too) sensual treat, the Madara Body Cream is a nourishing soft and lovely smelling body cream perfect for Autumn, newly launched Balm Balm Oil Face Cleanser is another perfect choice for colder days, leaving the Emani Mascara, which did not impress me too much – but maybe it will impress you.
And all these products have a total value of £65,00 whereas the actual cost of the yearly Love Lula Beauty Box subscription is £12,66 (or £16,60 for international customers) per month (yep, even less than it was before). You also get a discount on all the brands featured in a current Beauty Box and even this discount got even better – now you can get all the brands featured in a Beauty Box for 25% off!
