Funny, how with the August Love Lula Beauty Box I was pondering whether the Summer had slipped away from us already, and now, with the September Love Lula Beauty Box, we’re having a beautiful sunny and warm – even hot during the day – late Summer. Who would complain, right? But every time I get this package from Love Lula, I am reminded of just how quickly a month rolls over…

In this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box, there are 3 beauty brands I’ve been previously unfamiliar with; and that’s one of the many perks of Love Lula Beauty Box – aside from that groovy feeling you get every time the package arrives (as I’ve admitted many times before – I’m having a hard time not to sneak around before my Beauty Box arrives; curiosity and for the reason I don’t order the same products that month), you get a chance to be introduced to brands and products you may have not paid attention to otherwise. And the fact that this Beauty Box is super affordable. Oh, and that you get 20% off on all the brands from a current Beauty Box. Yeah, quite a treat, right? The total worth of this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box is £65, but you can get it for a fraction of this – all the details on this at the end of the post.

So, what’s in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box?

Inika Loose Mineral Blush (3g/£23,00). It’s always a treat seeing Inika products in my Love Lula Beauty Box. Not too long ago I reviewed Inika Mineral Loose Foundation – a great, mineral and nothing but mineral based foundation; this blush falls under the same category as far as the ingredients go. The blush is silky and fined milled, easily applied, especially over the loose mineral foundation, but likewise, over BB cream or liquid foundation as well. While quite pigmented, this color might not suit everyone, especially if you’re into more, say, brighter pink or even peachy blush colors as this color is a bit darker mauve-ish, which could work for a more subdued, calm look. Also, given it’s a bit more dark, it could be used as a (minimal and natural looking, right?!) contouring. Oh, and you can mix with with a lip balm and use it as a lipstick as well as you can mix it with a facial serum for a more creamy blush. While this is a pretty big pot of 3g of blush and very little goes a long way, the price is quite steep, in my opinion, but if you count in the fact it could last years…

♠ Kathleen Natural Tonifying Mist (150ml/£23,00). A new brand available at Love Lula, and I haven’t tried anything from this brand before. While I am always glad to see a toner in Love Lula Beauty Box, given what an important part of my beauty routine it is, I am also very picky when it comes to facial toners. Unfortunately, I can’t say I am very impressed with this toner. While it does contain chamomile hydrolate, it is, above all, a water based toner. Aside from that, it contains little more ingredients. The most problematic ingredient is parfum; the artificial scent is obvious. Quite problematic could also be the synthetic preservative dehydroacetic acid. It’s hard to believe such toner would have such a steep and unrealistic price.

♠ Macho & Bling Face Scrub (30ml/£6,50). Another brand I’ve been unfamiliar with. This scrub, as far as the performance goes, could be described as an OK scrub: its base is a cream-to-oil, with tiny exfoliators in a form of pumice ground powder. In essence, it’s a coconut based scrub, so those, whose skin reacts to coconut oil as being comedogenic, should skip this scrub. The biggest issue I have with this scrub are ingredients; two very problematic preservatives (Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin) and Peg 100 stearate. The other issue is the listing of the ingredients themselves; for example, on the ingredients list they have listed one of the ingredients as grapefruit – grapefruit what? The reason why I am pointing this out is it could be anything, but most importantly – a grapefruit extract, which is not really an extract and not natural, but an annoyingly terrible preservative.

The Castilian Soap Company Liquid Soap (250ml/£8,00). This is the third brand from this month’s Beauty Box which is new to me. Looking around, I saw some got The Castilian Soap Company Geranium Liquid Soap, while I got a non-scented one, so I’m holding a bit of a grudge. Nonetheless, this soap is as natural as it gets when it comes to ingredients and soaps – there really are no nasties in this liquid soap. It lathers nicely and creamy, and leaves the skin very soft and non-stripped. For those who have very sensitive skin and prefer non-scented soaps – get this one (the bigger packaging is even more affordable); those, who want a soap based on their own scent – this base will prove amazing: just use essential oils of your preference and voila! – you have your own soap. The brand also offers some other scents as well, and I am getting a geranium and probably lavender one as well. Affordable, natural, gentle – awesome!

John Masters Organics Sample Set. A set of 4 10ml samples: hair conditioner, hair detangler, hair milk and shampoo – reformulated without silicones, finally!

Love Lula Beauty Box September 2018

So these are my first impressions of the products from this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box; I especially like the Inika blush and The Castilian Soap Company Soap, the other two left quite a lot to be desired, especially in regards to ingredients, one in regards to steep and unreasonable price as well. Even though these are my first impressions only, I state, with detailed arguments, why I do or don’t like the products. I do not post such opinions as “this is bad” or “I’ve used this once and it doesn’t work ” or “I’ve used this once and my skin looks like I’m 15 again”; I try to provide as detailed and analytical arguments as possible.

This month’s Love Lula Beauty Box is worth £65, but you can get it for as low as £13,95 (or £17,5 for international customers), plus you get a 20% discount on all the brands featured in a current Beauty Box.
