Beautiful October is slowly saying goodbye, but hopefully such beautiful weather continues – so warm, I’m still hopping around in short sleeves, while being enchanted by the beautiful colors. October’s Love Lula Beauty Box is very autumnal themed: a rich multitasking balm with a muslin face cloth, an anti-pollution face mask, a massage and body oil, along with three samples – all in all – a very versatile content.
So, what’s in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box?
♥ Madara Anti-Pollution Charcoal & Mud Repair Mask (12,5ml travel size; 60ml/£24). I’ve tried many of the Madara products and am currently using several of their products from the Smart line as well, so it’s a treat to see their charcoal & mud face mask. The size which came in this month’s Beauty Box works well as a traveling companion as well as a sample to thoroughly test whether the mask is suitable for you. The color of the mask is black – as it contains charcoal. Its consistency is like a cream, application easy, even if it takes quite a good amount of the mask to cover the face. It dries quite fast and washes off equally easily. The mask contains quite a great amount of skin-beneficial ingredients – from anti-oxidants and vitamins to purifying and detoxifying ingredients such as charcoal and mud. It’s gentle on the skin, does not irritate and works especially well on oily and combination skin by being a (at least once) weekly treatment to control skin’s oil production, but at the same time, it’s well suited for other skin types, as it purifies and detoxes skin of pollution. I’m really liking this mask (just as I like all the Madara masks I’ve tried so far) and I plan on getting a full size and post a full and detailed review in the future.
♥ Lyonseaf Beauty Balm (30ml; 60ml/£12,95). I’ve already reviewed Lyonsleaf Marshmallow Face Oil and got the Lyonsleaf Marshmallow Beauty Balm in my May Love Lula Beauty Box – I’ve started using it again after not using it during the Summer, and been liking it quite a lot. The Beauty Balm from this month’s Beauty Box is a multi-tasker: a cleansing balm, a face balm, hand and cuticle cream and much more! This is a sturdy and firmly whipped balm, which melts into a nicely smelling oil upon the contact of the skin – and a little really goes a long way. If used as a cleanser – just gently massage your face and then use the cloth to gentle wipe it off; it will leave your skin clean and soft. As a face balm, it may be a bit too much for oily skin – especially during the day – but as a rich treatment during the night, it might be OK. For those with dry skin, especially as the colder weather is around the corner – it would be a great choice. We got a travel size in our Beauty Boxes, but even a full sized balm of 60ml is still very affordable as it is, but combined with the fact that this balm will last a long time, it’s certainly a steal.
♥ Lyonseaf 100% Cotton Muslin Face Cloth (£1,99).
♥ Kathleen Natural Body and Massage Oil (100ml/£34). With colder weather, I start using body oils instead of body lotions – but only after an evening shower or bath, so a body oil in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box comes right on time. The best way to apply a body oil is right out of a shower of bath, when the skin is open and willing to quickly absorb oils. This body and massage oil absorbs somewhat quickly; just make sure you don’t use too much and massage it into the skin. The scent is lovely – a great combination of vanilla and lavender and there’s a woody scent of frankincense somewhere popping in as well; it just takes some time for the scent to come alive – I’d suggest shaking the bottle a bit before applying it so that all the oils mix. The scent doesn’t last a few hours – but this is the case with all the products which contain a natural source of fragrance. All in all – it’s a lovely body and massage oil, however, there’s one issue – and it’s the same I had with another Kathleen Natural product last month: the cost. This body oil consists of very affordable vegetable oils, such as Almond oil and Sunflower oil, and with Argan oil falling somewhere in between. The amount of essential oils in such products is around 3% – 5%, and none of the essential oils in this body oil are expensive. The price of this oil is a whooping 39€ for 100ml! One of the most expensive body oils I’ve ever seen and some other body oils, which are around the price contain far more expensive oils. I am not really sure what is the thinking behind this brand’s prices, but with a consumer of green beauty being far more informed than ever, I do not see this brand lasting, unless they stop seeing a quick money grab with their unreasonable prices and actually price their products accordingly.
♥ Madara CC Cream and Madara Age-Defying Sunscreen Samples. Great to include both shades of the Madara CC Cream, so it’s easier to get the right color. As for the Madara SPF sunscreen – even if Summer is gone, applying sunscreen is an all-year-long necessity.
So, these are my first impressions of this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box. I really like the new Madara face mask and plan on getting a full size eventually (I’m using a few other facial masks now, so before those are emptied, I do not plan on getting more). I’m also liking the multi-tasking and very affordable Lyonsleaf Beauty Balm – great as a cleanser when using more makeup or just when needing a thorough cleanse, especially now, that the weather is getting colder. The Kathleen Natural Body Oil – while a nice oil – I do have an issue with the price of this oil, which is anything but reasonable. And since I’ve had Madara’s CC Cream on my wishlist since it’s launched, it’s great I have samples to see which color suits me the most, given how many misses I’ve had with choosing the right color of foundations/BB creams as of lately.
Don’t forget – the worth of Love Lula Beauty Boxes is always substantially more than what you actually pay for – you can get it for as low as £13,95 (or £17,5 for international customers), plus you get a 20% discount on all the brands featured in a current Beauty Box.
