I keep on focusing on an old normal, bypassing, aside from wearing a mask in public closed spaces, nearly any thought of what is being thrown around as the new normal. The weather is, aside from April-like showers, getting warmer and warmer, I am enjoying the work around my country house, long walks in the forest and receiving my lovely and always generous Love Lula Beauty Box – it has been such a glue to old normal and I appreciate it so much, even more than ever before. This month’s Love Lula Beauty Box contains 3 full sized products and 1 travel-sized product – checking all the categories: makeup in a form of lip crayon, body care in a form of soap bar, hair care in a form of shampoo and face care in a form of face cleanser, with a total value of £50, but you can get it for a fraction of that with a subscription.
So, what’s in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box?
♥ Inika Lip Crayon (3g/£19,50). Ah, I remember when Inika new lip crayons came out and I put them on my wishlist, but haven’t had a chance to get around to getting at least one! Until Love Lula included one of them in my Beauty Box. The color (deep plum) is rich in its color: plum, yes, with a splash of a copper mauve and brownish tone under it all – this is how I see this color. The texture is that of a high quality nourishing and softening lip product: so creamy, so soft and the color pigmented with a long staying power. Easily applying in a combination with lips as a blush as well – paint the lip crayon on your hands and then apply it with your finger on your cheeks. Deliciously looking! This is a rich and overpowering color; I’d suggest a very minimal makeup when wearing this one: bright look around the eyes, very little to no mascara. Hmm… wish a sharpener would be included.
♥ Madara Soap Bar (150g/£6,50). No matter how often Madara is featured in Love Lula Beauty Boxes and no matter how many Madara products I order, I never seem to “just there” where I feel I am running along with having as many Madara products as there are on my wishlist or as they’ve launched (case in point, they’ve just launched Anti collection and I am eyeing more or less of them). This heavy soap is is a creamy and soft treat for the hands (can be used as a body soap as well). It smells of a lemon, dipped in melissa and lost in a pine wood – there could easily be a scent of tea tree hidden somewhere, even though it does not contain it. Its refreshing scent is suitable for both women as well a men.
♥ Ayumi Hibiscus & Turmeric Shampoo (250ml/£6,99). I am a bit floating in the middle when it comes to this one. The shampoo smells nice – and the scent lasts for a good day. The texture is of a thicker gel, it spreads evenly on the hair, and creates a rich creamy lather, cleansing the hair thoroughly – and that probably due to quite a heavy working detergent Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, of which I can’t say I am all that fond of – my scalp has not reacted (so far), but skin on my forehead did with a few bumps.
♥ Skin Alchemists Humble Warrior Cleansing Oil (30ml/£15,00). Can you believe I’ve managed to control my curiosity and kept this oil unopened and thus not having it tested yet? Well, if I tell you I did the same to Skin Alchemists Facial Elixir which I got in one of my previous Love Lula Beauty Boxes, then you’ll believe it. I will dedicate a time to test these two and post a review, I promise. I need to thoroughly test and enjoy these pricey products and with so many other products using and testing, I am just not able to delve into these two the way I think they (and you, my readers) deserve. It is quite pricey, this cleanser…
So this concludes my first impressions of this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box. The theme of this month’s Beauty Box is a mixture of “taking care of you from head to toe” with products covering all the cares – face, body, hair and makeup. I like all the products I’ve tried (for now, I’ve skipped the pricey oil cleanser), sans that one ingredient in the shampoo.
And all these products have a total value of £50,00 whereas the actual cost of the yearly Love Lula Beauty Box subscription is £12,66 (or £16,60 for international customers) per month (yep, even less than it was before). You also get a discount on all the brands featured in a current Beauty Box for 20% off!
