Oh, this month has flown by and it has flown by in a blur-like fashion. A common cold has gotten ahold of me for the better part of the month, and once I started recovering, there were so many things put on hold for the duration of sickness that needed to be done… Phew! But the Winter has been – aside from yesterday, when there were some snow – warm and sunny, which most certainly helps when you’re feeling all tired and up to nothing… And then there’s the Love Lula Beauty Box, which cheers you up even if you’re battling a cold, right? The February Beauty Box is a mixture of skin care and hair products – 3 full sized products and 2 travel sized products. Total value of this month’s Beauty Box is £44,00, but you can get it for a fraction of a cost – all the info at the end of this post.
So, what’s in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box?
♥ Oils of Heaven Raspberry Seed Oil (30ml/£19,00). About 12 years ago, I had a period of time – about a year or so – when Raspberry Seed Oil was a face oil I was binging on – it was one of those carrier oils/facial oils that worked great with my skin, which was still suffering with occasional acne – because the raspberry seed oil is a great choice for oily and acne prone skin, given its anti-inflammatory properties. Since then, I’ve been incorporating the raspberry seed oil into my skincare routine occasionally, and when I saw that Love Lula’s own brand – the Oils of Heaven added another carrier oil to their already rich selection of carrier oils, I’ve placed it on my wishlist – but I didn’t have to wait for it for too long, as it’s landed on my cosmetic shelf already. I’ve been using this oil as a primer under my makeup (or minimal makeup look), as it acts almost like a dry oil, meaning it absorbs pretty fast and doesn’t leave a greasy look, while at the same time you get a natural dewy look and hydrated skin. There’s a reason why the Raspberry seed oil has been one of my favorite carrier oils for so long.
♥ Laidbare For Richer For Porer Mask (50ml/£7,99). This mask is another great discovery from my Love Lula Beauty Box – I received the first Laidbare mask a few years ago, and soon after got another one – it’s a great mask for oily skin, and comes with a low price. The results are exactly what the mask promises – impurities are sucked out of the skin, if there are some spots, they are dried up. This detox mask, which also moonlights as a mild exfoliator, leaves the skin calm and smooth, and within weeks of using the Laidbare For Richer For Porer Facial Mask, the results are visible. Given the ingredients, it also moisturizes the skin. Read my full review here.
♥ Laidbare DIY! Cleanser & Toner (30ml travel size; 125ml/£6,99). Another product I’ve already received in one of my previous Love Lula Beauty Boxes and have already written a full review, which you can read here.
♥ Ayumi Tumeric Face Scrub (20ml travel size; 125ml//£6,99). This is a very gentle face scrub – it’s like a face cream, mixed with bamboo powder, making it a finely milled, so to speak, gentle exfoliator. With massaging the scrub for a few minutes and after rinsing with warm water, the result is a smooth but not irritated skin. Given how gentle this face scrub is, I think it would suit those, who may have issues with painful acne. The full size also comes with a very low cost, though there’s, maybe, a bit too much of the face scrub in a full sized tube, given it takes quite a long time to use up a 125ml tube of a face scrub.
♥ My.Haircare Shampoo Bar (80g/£13,95). A shampoo bar – I’ve been tempted to try one of these for a while, but I always find myself being too skeptical. A shampoo is a beauty product that’s of a great importance to me, and finding a great shampoo with also a reasonable price is not always easy. I am a bit on the fence regarding this shampoo bar. Positive? Yeah, it lathers quickly and creates quite a good amount of creamy foam, which is easily spread on the hair; but if you have long hair, you’ll need to repeat this process quite a few times, which can be time consuming. Once enough of the product is applied on the hair, it works like liquid shampoo. It cleanses the hair nicely, though a conditioner has to follow. The scent of the shampoo is also very nice, but very – artificial; in fact there are quite a few ingredients (well, the whole ingredients list is that of non-natural ingredients) which are artificial fragrance/perfume and fall under toxic ingredients. There’s a bit too many ingredients which are questionable in this shampoo bar for me to give it a thumbs up.
So this concludes my first impressions of this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box. The theme of this month’s Beauty Box is a mixture of hair care in a shape of a shampoo bar and face care with a face cleanser, a face scrub, a face mask and a high quality carrier oil, which is a great choice for oily and acne prone skin – the newly launched raspberry seed oil.
And all these products have a total value of £44,00 whereas the actual cost of the yearly Love Lula Beauty Box subscription is £12,66 (or £16,60 for international customers) per month (yep, even less than it was before). You also get a discount on all the brands featured in a current Beauty Box and even this discount got even better – now you can get all the brands featured in a Beauty Box for 25% off!
