Following the previous month’s one could be a tough act to follow, but Love Lula Beauty Box remains one of those Beauty Boxes that, aside from being a pleasant surprise (even when peaking around before receiving mine) every month, remains on the top of its game. The August one’s contents are slowly moving along the Autumn, which is knocking on our doors, with a rich facial cream, hydrating eye cream, a hand cream, and for a pop of insanely pigmented color – a lip gloss. There’s also a sample of a body wash. So this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box has 4 full sized products and one sample sachet, with a total worth of £61,00.
So, what’s in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box?
♥ Inika Lip Glaze in “Rosewood” (5ml/£18.00). Holy Molly! This lip gloss is almost too pigmented! One single dip and swipe and you get an extremely rich color on your lips! In fact, as my makeup is more on a minimal side, I’ve been using it only after a lip balm and applying just a dot here and there and spreading it with my fingers – it is that pigmented. The color is very Autumnal, no doubt about it, but it would be a great choice for Winter Holidays as well: a darker pink rose color, with a a copper-ish shimmer. While the finish is that of a lip gloss, the feeling is that of a silky soft lip balm – this is how it feels on the lips – nourishing, soft and anything but sticky. Price-wise is falls somewhere in between, but it’s not extremely expensive, and being as pigmented as it is and with a generous amount in the tune, it will last for quite some time. While this lip gloss is currently not available at Love Lula, there are a few other colors available. Speaking of Inika lip products, I have a few of their lip crayons on my wishlist as well.
♥ Madara Eye Contour Cream (15ml/£26,00). About two years ago, I reviewed another Madara’s eye cream – in fact, this one seems like a reformulated version of that one, just that it’s a bit more thin in its consistency, contains aloe vera and Vitamin C? I liked that one, and I like this one as well – it’s gentle, hydrating and absorbs quickly – making it a great choice to apply under a liquid foundation or BB cream coming colder days. The price may be a bit steep, especially for – otherwise usual eye cream amount – 15ml, but since you only need a drop of it, just as the other Madara eye cream, this, too will last around a year. Currently this eye cream is not available at Love Lula, so I just linked to the older one.
♥ Nature’s Kitchen Rescue Cream (50ml/£8.09). I’ve been testing Nature’s Kitchen Super Protein Skin Boosting Anti-Ageing Moisturiser lately and this rescue cream from Nature’s Kitchen is somewhat similar to the moisturiser, just richer in its texture; in fact, this is a rich night cream for colder weather, and especially for those with drier skin. For those, who don’t have dry skin, just a bit of this rescue cream would do it, preferably over a light serum. A little really goes a long way. Such rich creams are also a great choice for neck and décolletage, and this cream feels like a neck mask. The scent is also interesting – it reminds me of a freshly cut grass. With a tube being 50ml and a very low price – it makes for this green beauty product being within the reach of anyone, who doesn’t want (or need) to splurge on very expensive creams. As always, I have to point out the negative part, and that is phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin.
♥ Laidbare In Safe Hands Hand Cream (50ml/£6,99). Laidbare offers quite affordable products, and this hand cream is no different (though, just for the sake of comparison – same amount of this hand cream is only £1 less than the above Nature’s Kitchen face cream, which consists of better ingredients). It absorbs quickly, but still leaves some nourishment on the hands. The scent is quite strong and the source not natural, unfortunately. While I do like their face mask, this hand cream did not persuade me.
♥ Ayumi Turmeric Body Wash Sample (full size 250ml/£6,99).
This concludes my first impressions of this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box: with 4 full sized products and a sample sachet: a face cream, an eye cream, a lip gloss, a hand cream and a sample of a body wash, with a common theme: Autumn is around the corner. The Inika lip gloss is in its own category with the pigmentation and the way it feels on the lips, the Madara eye cream gently and hydrating, great under liquid foundation, Nature’s Kitchen face cream is an affordable and very rich cream, great for dry skin or a neck mask, Laidbare hand cream quickly absorbs. I guess you could say the creams are all rich and nourishing.
And all these products have a total value of £61,00 whereas the actual cost of the yearly Love Lula Beauty Box subscription is £12,66 (or £16,60 for international customers) per month (yep, even less than it was before). You also get a discount on all the brands featured in a current Beauty Box and even this discount got even better – now you can get all the brands featured in a Beauty Box for 25% off!
