Exfoliating should be a part of everyone’s beauty routine. While I am not a proponent of a daily exfoliation as it can strip skin’s natural oils, exfoliating several times a week is great for your skin. Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells, which can cause breakouts. It removes dry skin patches, so that the skin is non-flaky and prepared for makeup. It makes the skin clean, clear and glowy.
Green People Fruit Scrub Exfoliator comes in a travel 25ml or 50ml tube. As the name suggests already, it has a gentle and nice citrus fruit scent, with a whiff of a shea butter and olive oil scent. It has a light creamy texture and the peeling granules of apricot kernels look like coffee granules.
I apply it on dry skin and gently massage it. At first, the scarcity of peeling granules may seem like this peeling won’t be as effective with exfoliation, like, for example, an exfoliator, which is based on sugar. But as you massage the scrub onto the face, the tiny peeling granules of apricot kernels do their work. All it takes is less than 5 minutes, and the skin is exfoliated. While I use a more rough, sugar based exfoliator in the evening, in case there might be some redness, Green People Fruit Scrub Exfoliator is so gentle I use it in the morning before applying facial cream and makeup. There were no adverse reactions from my skin: no redness or any other skin irritation. The skin is gentle and smooth to the touch, with a clean and glowy look. Green People Fruit Scrub Exfoliator is thus excellent for those with sensitive skin and for those, who suffer from painful acne, as it gently and non-painfully scrubs the skin.
Green People Fruit Scrub Exfoliator is formulated with ingredients you’d expect in a peeling product: fruits; more specifically – citruses. Mandarin peel oil has potent skin cleansing properties and it promotes skin regeneration, lemon peel oil also has antibacterial and astringent properties, while bergamont citrus oil is, aside from having astringent properties, also great for oily and acne prone skin. Citric acid, extracted from citrus fruits, is a natural skin toning and peeling agent with antioxidant properties.
Olive oil is an antioxidant and moisturizer with high content of essential fatty acids; it has anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. Jojoba oil is skin identical ingredient and moisturizer which smooths and softens the skin. Likewise, squalane is skin-identical ingredient and a potent antioxidant which has skin-repairing properties and it promotes skin regeneration. Shea butter is moisturizer, rich in fatty acids; it’s very nourishing, promotes skin’s elasticity, stimulates skin cell growth and has anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. Sunflower oil, an antioxidant, has a high content of unsaturated fatty acids, is rich with Vitamin A, D and E and minerals (calcium, iron, phosphorous, potassium, zinc). Rosemary extract is antioxidant, it promotes and improves circulation. Marshmallow root extract has rich content of flavonoids (anti-oxidants), has anti-inflammatory, softening and soothing properties. Palm oil is an emollient and moisturizer, with natural saponifying properties.
Potentially problematic ingredients? Two preservatives:
- Sorbic acid, a preservative, which can be a naturally occurring or synthetically produced compound when used in cosmetics. It can be a potential human skin toxicant or allergen.
- Benzyl alcohol (EWG score 5) can be naturally occurring in essential oils or synthetic. Benzyl alcohol is not listed as naturally derived, it’s safe to assume benzyl alcohol is a synthetic ingredient. Benzyl alcohol is is used as a solvent and preservative. EU regulation allows a maximum of 1% in cosmetic products. Benzyl alcohol can be a skin allergen. While I haven’t experienced any irritation, those who know that are allergic to benzyl alcohol should not use this cream.
Regarding these two ingredients, Green People offered an explanation which can be found in my Green People Vita Min Cream Review.

My final word? Green People Fruit Scrub Exfoliator is an affordable and effective gentle face peeling, suitable for basically any skin type. It does not leave skin irritated, but instead offers a smooth and clean glowy skin. Given many skin-beneficial ingredients, of which 88% are certified organic, it won’t leave your skin dried out. A 50ml tube costs approximately 17€ (affordable!), while for approximately 16€ you can get a 25ml travel size in a very affordable travel pack, along with Vita Min Cream (my review) and Gentle Cleanse (review soon!). I’ve been using the 25ml travel size for about 2 months now (2-3 times a week), and the tube is about half empty, so it will last you about 4 months – which is a bargain. Would I buy it again? Yes, it’s an affordable, gentle and non-irritating scrub, a great travel companion as well as a scrub for an almost daily use. I’d buy it with the travel pack, as it it really affordable and since I prefer smaller sizes, so the products (and precious natural ingredients!) do not go to waste.
