Retinol (Vitamin A)

~ A naturally occurring substance essential for healthy metabolism. Antioxidant. Anti-aging properties. Promotes healthy skin. Retinol can be unstable ingredient, especially if not packaged properly, and thus losing its skin-beneficial properties. Excess exposure to Vitamin A could be associated with toxicity such as effects on reproduction and development. When exposed to UV light, retinol compounds break down and produce toxic free radicals that can damage DNA and cause gene mutations, a precursor to cancer.
