Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25 is a safe, non-nano, anti-aging sunscreen that provides broad-spectrum sun protection and supports skin’s moisture balance.
Before I embark on my review of Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25, allow me a bit of a pondering: why would anyone still use conventional products, when… How lucky are we, who use natural organic beauty products? We get a high quality products (regardless of the price) consisting of natural ingredients, which not only do not harm us, or provide only immediate appearance that they do something visible – they are actually skin-beneficial in the long run. We can now choose a natural foundation, which is actually a high quality cream/serum, containing natural ingredients, but also happens to be colored with natural colorants.
And the same goes for natural sunscreen products: instead of wasting money on a product, consisting of water, cheap fillers and toxic sunscreen ingredients such as avobenzone, benzophenone and oxybenzone, for example, we, in turn, have the luxury to choose a sunscreen, whose SPF is based on zinc oxide, and formulated as a moisturising, nourishing face cream as well.
And Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25 is just that. I’ve been using the Madara Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF30 for a while, but since I am such a huge fan of Alteya Organics, I decided to try their sunscreen face cream as well. The only “hmmm, should I?” moment was due to the cream containing coconut oil as it’s comedogenic for my skin, and I did experience a few minor bumps here and there, but more than coconut oil, Isoamyl Laurate is to be blamed for a bump here and there (more on the ingredients later).
The Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25 comes in an elegant and generous 50ml violet glass pump bottle – to preserve the formulation. The texture is a bit more on a thicker side: with zinc oxide being the active ingredient, thus in high concentration, it’s natural this face cream is of a such thicker, paste-like texture, but it, nonetheless, spreads quite easily (also due to Isoamyl Laurate) and therefore makes it a great choice as a primer as well. For the face alone, one pump sufficiently covers it all, which, along the generous 50ml amount of this cream should last you for the recommended 6 months after opening (though I suspect – longer). The color of this face cream is curiously interesting – the cream looks like a pink tinted product, but don’t worry – the blushing (come to think, it would make for a nice tinted cream blush…hmmm, only if really and far more pigmented, of course; I digress.) pink color disappears soon, making room for dewy finish. The scent of this cream is a signature property of all Alteya Organics products I’ve had a pleasure to try so far: beautiful, gentle, delicate, flowery (with am emphasis on rose – can it get better?) and above all – all natural.
The Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25 can work perfectly fine on its own – it glides on, but I prefer using a water-based serum before applying it. Once the serum has absorbed, I proceed with the application of this face sunscreen cream; it does not absorb very quickly and I suggest waiting a few minutes (if you’ve got 8 -10 minutes to spare before applying other products even better) for the Alteya Organics face sunscreen cream to properly absorb. If used alone, you will see a velvety and glowy finish; if you pair it with, say, loose mineral foundation, using it as a primer, the foundation will apply even better and the velvety glowy finish will radiate through foundation as well. But since Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25 leaves such a delicate velvety finish on its own, it’s a perfect choice for the no-makeup hot Summer days – paired maybe with a bit of a bronzer and cream blush, highlighter optional and almost unnecessary. However, especially during hot Summer days, and if your skin is (very) oily, combining it with a translucent powder might be a good option as well, while leaving the cheeks dewy from the Alteya Organics face sunscreen cream.
With a natural foundation, be it loose mineral or liquid (which contain SPF on its own as well, due to titanium dioxide and in most cases zinc oxide as well), you get two layers of an SPF – but! keep in mind, that SPFs of two products do not add, for example: if you use face sunscreen with SPF25 and foundation with SPF25 that does not make for an SPF50 protection, but rather – still an SPF25, though there are two layers of an SPF25.
The Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25 is quite resilient and has a strong staying power: it lasts all day, it stands against sweating and water, but should you go swimming, another application is suggested. And precisely due to being resilient, I would also suggest a thorough cleansing, even double cleansing in the evening; and once you remove the face sunscreen cream, you’ll see your face was, indeed, protected – no redness. This is what a high concentration of a natural SPF in a form of zinc oxide does.
But the Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25 also contains a great amount of skin-beneficial ingredients, making it a nourishing, moisturising two-in-one product; refreshing, cooling aloe vera, calming calendula and chamomile, a fair amount of anti-microbial and antiseptic ingredients, and a not modest amount of both Rosa Damascena Flower Extract and Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, to name a few – this face sunscreen cream checks all the boxes.

My final word?
The Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25 is another great product from Bulgarian Alteya Organics brand – it seems I can’t get enough of their products. The sunscreen covers so many aspects and needs, all at once – from being a great natural sunscreen, to being a moisturiser with an array of skin-beneficial and precious ingredients, to being a sheer-ly tinted primer for a foundation – this one can do it all. And it smells gently flowery for an added bonus.
Price? £25 for a generous amount of 50ml, and since little goes a long way, you’re going to be able to stretch it for many many months. Many other brands would hike up a price for such a product, containing so many precious ingredients and performing so well in more than one aspect – but not Alteya Organics, which gives this brand just another added thumbs-up from me.
I highly recommend Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25!
Oh, and the nail polish I am wearing in the pic above is Maggie Anne in color Carmela.
