This month’s Love Lula Beauty Box had arrived after the start of Summer – yep, it’s Summer already. In some strange way, I feel like I’m still stuck in previous Christmas time, or at least – somewhere in Winter, given what happened in Spring, thus having a feeling like Spring didn’t even happen… Strange, I know, that’s why I have a monthly reminder that things are not as different and that somehow, we’ll all get back to normal, old normal. And this reminder is Love Lula Beauty Box. I think there hasn’t been one Beauty Box this year that I didn’t like; all the products in Beauty Boxes from 2020 have been right on time, and quite versatile as far as covering face care, body care, hair care and makeup. The June Love Lula Beauty Box is no different, as it contains 4 full sized products, one a face care product (or – if you wish – an all around care product)  and 3 body care products. A total value of this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box is £63,00 but with a yearly subscription, you can get it for a fraction of that – all the info at the end of this post.

So what’s in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box?

Love Lula Beauty Box June 2020

Oils of Heaven Plum Face Oil (30ml/£19,00). We’re getting quite spoiled by Oils of Heaven and their launching of new carrier oils as often as they do, aren’t we? Not too long ago (in fact, in February), OOH launched the wonderful Raspberry Oil, and now we get another fruity carrier oil – Plum carrier oil. Wonderful! The texture is a bit thicker than that of Raspberry, for example, but that does not effect the absorption as it’s quick. Very little goes a long way (even longer way if you mix it with the many other wonderful OOH oils – go ahead, indulge yourself). I just love the feeling on my face in the morning after the skin had all night the time to absorb this wonderful oil: soft, less bumpy… And the scent is quite interesting as well… I think it reminds me of a dry plums. Sweet. Sugary. Fruity. Gotta do a post dedicated to the many (more) Oils of Heaven oils I’ve been lucky to collect since I’ve reviewed their Cacay and Moringa oils…

Oils of Heaven Plum Oil

Kathleen Natural Citrus Cheer Bubble Bath & Shower Gel (150ml/£18,00). Thanks to Love Lula, I’ve now had a chance to try 4 body care products from this UK brand – 2 body oils and now 2 bath/shower gels, and the luxurious indulgence of all of them, but especially the scent, has left an impression on me. This shower gel is, just like the previous Lavender one, feels nice and smells even nicer (and for a third even nicer – it pairs wonderfully with Kathleen Natural Rose Body Oil) – citrus scent is quite powerful at the beginning, following by a gentle breeze of geranium. Lovely, yes, but, gotta say about this one as well – too pricey.

Kathleen Natural Citrus Shower Gel

Humble by Nature Sweet Pea & Verbena Hand Cream (75ml/£8,00). Right on time, double right on time at that! As we’re washing (and using mostly alcohol based sanitizers) our hands even more often than usually and thus in a dire need of of a nourishing, hydrating hand cream, which (and here comes the reason for the double right on time part) absorbs under a minute, does not leave any sticky or greasy feeling behind – and important aspect given it’s Summer – , just velvety soft, nourished and hydrated hands, which (and that’s a bonus) smell luxuriously of a mixture of feminine floral and a distant citrusy. The name of the brand may be Humble, but the texture, the nourishment, quick absorption and gorgeous scent are anything but. OK, the price given how wonderful this hand cream is may be the other humble part, but that’s about it.

Elsas Detox Deodorant

Elsa’s Organic Skinfoods Detox Natural Deodorant (60g/£18,00). I’ve had a chance to try a few deodorants from this UK brand and wrote a review, so I was quite curious to try this one – especially since it promises quite a lot. It’s an activated charcoal based deodorant – promoting a detox process. Magnesium oxide and Corn Silk Starch lessen perspiration (lessen, not eliminate). There’s quite a number of refreshing scent sources, such as lemon, lemongrass and neroli. The texture of this deodorant is quite hard/solid and difficult to apply to the gentle skin under arms – that’s a docked point for the deodorant. But at the same time, given how sturdy and non-creamy it is, it leaves no greasy residue, and does not feel sticky. Or even visible. The scent, gentle and subtle, lasts for quite some time, so does a limited perspiration. Interesting formulation, texture and performance, have to say, but I’ll need to do some more testing before I say my final word. Oh, the price? Entirely too high, especially given this is a product that’s used every day, a lot and is an essential and such high price is the reason why I still haven’t tried a deodorant from some other brand, which has an unreasonably high price for it.

Love Lula Beauty Box June 2020

So this concludes my first impressions of this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box. The theme of this month’s Beauty Box is a mixture of “nourish the body while smelling nicely” with a newly launched wonderful Plum carrier oil. I like all the products I’ve tried – this Beauty Box is deliciously smelling, indeed. I am side-eying the (too) high price for the deodorant, though.

And all these products have a total value of £63,00 whereas the actual cost of the yearly Love Lula Beauty Box subscription is £12,66 (or £16,60 for international customers) per month (yep, even less than it was before). You also get a discount on all the brands featured in a current Beauty Box for 20% off!

Jane Scrivner ‘OO’ Cream Protect, Hydrate and Mattify, suitable for all skin types, deeply hydrates the skin without the shine but with film-forming protection.

Jane Scrivner 'OO' Cream Protect, Hydrate and Mattify Review

Thanks to Love Lula, I’ve had a chance to try quite a few products from Jane Scrivner now (I’ve already reviewed their mask) and have a few on my wishlist as well; there’s this air of luxury around Jane Scrivner products, but the prices of their products, even though not very easily affordable, fall somewhere in the middle.

I’ve been using the Jane Scrivner OO Cream for a while now – both in my morning and evening skincare routines and my skin has accepted it with open arms. The Jane Scrivner OO Cream comes in two packaging: one smaller 50ml jar and one larger 100ml, and while the price for the standard 50ml is not easily affordable it is also not extremely pricey, making the cost for the much larger 100ml jar fall under much more economical.

While a jar of this cream comes with a wooden stick for an easier, but above all – more hygienic application, I think it would be far better if the cream would had come in a pump bottle.

The texture (and scent) of Jane Scrivner OO Cream is almost like a slightly melted orange sorbet: the cream is an oil and water based at the same time, so it’s not oily or thick but it’s also not watery or very thin. Even upon the touch, the texture translates into a refreshing, hydrating and light feeling.

Jane Scrivner 'OO' Cream Protect, Hydrate and Mattify Review

The Jane Scrivner OO Cream is one of the most versatile face creams I’ve ever tried – it can be used for basically any skin type and for any season. It can be used alone, in the morning, for its hydrating and matte appearance, on its own or as a foundation primer – both liquid or mineral powder one. It can be used in the evening, again, alone or over a face oil to lock in the moisture. And it can be used during colder or hotter days – it will hydrate the skin but won’t irritate it, but it will always feel light on the skin.

My final word?

Jane Scrivner 'OO' Cream Protect, Hydrate and Mattify Review

Jane Scrivner OO Cream is a versatile face cream – when in doubt, which face product to use, you can always count on this one to deliver the promised: hydration, a feeling of nourishment and a lovely scent. It’s suitable for basically any skin type and can be used for any occasion and in any season, whether it’s a liquid/mineral foundation, to lock in face oils or on its own to provide deep hydration – and when used on its own, the hydration will come with a matte finish, which will be especially liked by those, who have oily skin.

Jane Scrivner 'OO' Cream Protect, Hydrate and Mattify Review

Price? It’s not the cheapest natural face cream around, but at the same time – the price is not set up outlandishly high either, especially when you consider the fact that it is a high performing face cream and comes in 50ml jar, which costs £27,00, but an even more economical option comes in a 100ml jar with a price tag of £39,00. While you may be tempted to slather the cream on your face, as it feels so good, a thin layer will suffice and thus last for a really long time.

I’ve been enjoying the Jane Scrivner OO Cream for many months now and do recommend it – especially now, that the warmer and hotter days are ahead of us and if your’e looking for a light but deeply hydrating face cream – give this one a try!
