Nov 292019

Hello greenies! The mega huge and annual edition of this year’s Black Friday/Green Friday is here! And it is… out of this world! I feel dizzy collecting all these great deals for you. A quick run down: there are discounts of up to 30%, sales going on of 40% on. There’s a ton of free green beauty gifts. There are various beauty bags going on, which you can get for free (GWP) or for a very discounted price: one beauty bag is worth €125, but you can get it for €28; one beauty bag is worth $133, but you can get it for free (GWP) or for $59; one beauty bag is worth $249, but you can get it for $159… These deals, I tell ya, are once a year event, really.

Now, here’s the thing. Yes, Black Friday sales are huge – the biggest of the year, indeed. However, do not spend your money JUST because there’s a big sale. Here’s my advice on how to go about these huge sales and when to part with your money:
→ if you see a product you’ve had on your wishlist for a long time
→ if your loved one had wished for a specific product for a while
→ if you need to re-stock the products you’ve been already using
→ if you’ve been saving for that special product as a gift for being a good girl

There’s temptation to take a full advantage of these sales; believe me, I know. Going through all the great deals I’ve been collecting for you, it’s hard not to go all wild and I admit – these deals are great, no doubt. But make sure you don’t wake up with a regret for buying things you don’t really need just because you got them for much less and don’t buy a product just because you saw it’s a “must-have I am obsessed with it” somewhere on Instagram.

Don’t forget – I posted Love Lula Holiday Gift Guide this week, but unfortunately, my annual and Green Beauty Holiday Gift Guide fell through due to too many technical issues with certain links.

Love Lula Holiday Gift Guide 2019

Right on time before my mega annual Green Friday event, is the first of the two mega Holiday gift guides: the first one is a gift guide dedicated to Love Lula. I’ve been closely working with this innovative green beauty store for many years now; quite honestly, there’s no green beauty store like Love Lula. The way they understand green beauty and experienced green beauty bloggers is on a completely different level.

Being their accredited blogger means I am in a constant touch with this green beauty store; sometimes with their customer service, which is prompt, professional yet friendly – top notch. As their blogger, I am gifted many products from their vast and ever expanding assortment of green beauty goodies; no matter how much I try to stay up to date with all the products available at Love Lula, there’s always something new and exciting going on.

There’s another aspect of working with Love Lula that I should point out, another unique aspect. Ever since the thought of setting up my own green beauty blog came to me, I knew my blog will be much different from any other, and that includes my personality, my values, my integrity being visible in everything I do – and that includes being honest. Being honest about my experience, my knowledge about green beauty products – and this is visible in all my reviews. Being that green beauty industry is not always what it seems, what it portrays to be, and that includes green beauty businesses, sometimes subtly, sometimes directly, demanding a positive review, unless a blogger wishes to be blacklisted – this is another aspect where Love Lula is a lone rider. Ever since I became their accredited blogger, and thus written many articles/reviews of the products they’ve gifted to me, not once, there has never been one single suggestion, hint of how I should review the products. My reviews are honest and analytical, and I present all the aspects of every product – and even if sometimes I don’t like a product or think the price is too high, Love Lula has never held that against me; in fact, from all my communications with them, honesty is what they’ve always pushed for.

And that stance of Love Lula corresponds with the reviews published on their store as well; with an obvious and expected drama surrounding brands/stores posting fake reviews, if you take a look around the Love Lula store and read the reviews, you’ll find the positive and negative reviews – going back years – it’s all there, no fake reviews, no deleting of negative reviews, and no hints or demands of leaving positive reviews. Just transparency and honesty.

In this year’s Love Lula Holiday Gift Guide, I’ve parted the gifts into several categories, based on the price points – because you don’t have to break the bank to fill up your green beauty shelf: there are gifts under 10, under 30 and under 50 (all prices are in GBP). Then there are luxury gifts, which are over 50 and gift sets. The gift sets are especially flying off the Love Lula warehouse shelf; some I’ve planned on including in this guide, yet are already gone. I’d like to point out the Inika gift sets and the Lavera gift set, which includes two of my favorite products – the rose body wash and body lotion (read my full review here); sold separately, they cost £16, whereas the gift set is £9,95! Just to name a few of the great deals. Oh, and there’s a discount included at the end of this post, so you can save even more!

Nov 252019

November has been quite lousy weather-wise: chilly, rainy and moody. What better way to break this moodiness than receiving a monthly surprise package (well, surprise – even though I do sneak and peak around to see what Love Lula included in a current Beauty Box – it’s still has a scent of surprise when it arrives) themed very November-appropriately – nourishing and oily: there are 4 full-sized products and two samples. A total value of this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box is £48, while the actual cost with a yearly subscription is a fraction of it.

So, what’s in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box?

Love Lula Beauty Box November 2019

Madara Hemp Hemp Lip Conditioning Balm (15ml/£10,00). I like receiving Madara products in my Beauty Box. And I like receiving lip balms in my Beauty Box. A Madara lip balm received in my Beauty Box is even better! I’ve been planning on getting this lip balm anyway, and boy am I glad to have finally gotten it – it’s a special treat for lips, I can tell you that much! The scent is really lovely (reading Madara’s description seems like they’ve been reading my reviews – the way I describe products and scents and colors…) – indeed, subtle but present for as long as the lip balm stays on the lips: a bit citrusy, a bit sweet – and it tastes sweet as well. The texture is thin and of finely whipped nourishing ingredients such as shea butter and coconut oil, along with soothing chamomile and hydrating hemp oil. It’s so very soft and – “balzamy”. Excellent also as a lip primer for lipsticks. Reasonably priced, but this lip balm most probably won’t make it to New Year, 15ml of it or not, as I know I will use it up much sooner; I’ve been applying it every day since I’ve got it and I could not recommend it more!

Nature’s Kitchen Kiwi, Apple & Cucumber Skin Soothing Face Wash (100ml/£10,99). I’ve been using two of Nature’s Kitchen’s products for a while now – and both are quite thick and rich in their texture, however this cleanser is, even though it says it’s a wash, more like a cleansing lotion: more on the thin side, just a bit runny. The scent is somewhat gentle – a fruity one, how could it not be, since it contains fruit extracts – with apple being the strongest. Surprisingly, given, especially the price, this face wash also contains Vitamin A and B3 (niacinamide) and C, along with AHA fruit acids and kiwi fruit, spinach, cucumber, kale leaf and already mentioned apple fruit extract! Ingredients-wise, and affordable price-wise, this cleanser is quite a showoff. But how do these ingredients work? Very well, in fact: the cleanser is very gentle, it cleanses the skin like a cleansing soft lotion, with minimal foaming. Given it does contain quite a number of coconut based/derived ingredients, I was a bit skeptical how my skin would react, but, aside from an occasional irritation due to phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin (yes, the cleanser is water based and therefore needs a substantial preservative, but I am sure some other preservative is available), my skin has been enjoying this cleanser a lot! Knowing the green beauty industry and the sometimes inexcusable high prices they slap on some products, this cleanser could easily strut around with a much higher price point (and some would praise it for the price point alone) – but it doesn’t. Given how nicely it cleanses my skin, removes makeup, provides chemical peeling, along with soothing, hydrating and antioxidant vitamins and extracts – I say kudos to Nature’s Kitchen for creating a great cleanser and slapping such a low and affordable price on it! This gem will receive a full review soon, no doubt!

Love Lula Beauty Box November 2019

Oils of Heaven Apricot Face Oil (30ml/£19,00). Just in time for Winter and Holidays, Love Lula, via their house brand Oils of Heaven, has launched two new oils – the Raspberry Oil (which I have promptly placed on my wishlist, as I’ve been a fan of the raspberry oil for a very long time) and Apricot Oil. Apricot oil is one of those versatile oils, targeting, especially, sensitive and irritated skin, as well as dry skin. It absorbs really quickly, thus making it perfect for morning routine in these upcoming cold and windy days – over a serum or mixed with a liquid foundation, as it will melt with it and make it really even with a subtle natural glow. The scent of Apricot oil has always been one of my favorites, as it’s this gentle, somewhere far away, yet so sweet – and a bit of an apricot, of course, smelling oil. While the quality of Oils of Heaven oils is indisputable, I do think that it’s priced too high. Sure, a 30ml bottle will last for a long time, but still – too expensive.

Ayumi Coconut Hair Oil (150ml/£7,99). Another “right on time” product, which found its way in my Love Lula Beauty Box. I’ve been meaning to get one of the Ayumi’s hair oils anyway, for these colder and harsher Winter days, when the hair needs additional care in a form of hair oils, masks. Coconut oil is in fact a butter, and when placed in a colder environment, it assumes its natural form – a butter form. So I suggest you keep this hair oil somewhere warmer, otherwise you will use up more of this hair oil as you would have, since the product will be thicker. This hair oil has quite a citrusy scent, with a hint of herbal rosemary.  You can use this hair oil by thoroughly massaging it into your scalp and all over the hair and leaving it on for as long as your time allows; I suggest wrapping your hair a warm/hot towel in order for the ingredients, especially the coconut oil, to melt into your hair, and then wash it with a shampoo. You can use the same process, just leave it on during the night for the hair to really soak in all the nourishment. The hair will be easily manageable, soft, glossy and fed. The price is affordable, though those, like me, who have longer hair, will find this bottle running out pretty fast – even if you use this hair oil as a hair treatment only once to twice a week.

Joik Exfoliating Facial Scrub Sample (full size 75ml/£24,00). Which reminds me, I gotta try a few of the Joik’s new(er) products, especially their AHA Toner and AHA Peel Mask, to name a few.

Beauty Elixirs The Beauty Pageant Formula Sample (full size 35g/£19,00). A powder form of a supplement. Intriguing.

Love Lula Beauty Box November 2019

So this concludes my first impressions of this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box. All the products fall under the “right on time” label: a nourishing hair oil, an-all-around carrier oil, the Apricot oil, great for dry and sensitive skin as well as a primer before makeup, an excellent and softening (and delicious) lip balm and extremely low priced high quality face cleanser, along with two samples – a great selection for the month of November, no doubt.

And all these products have a total value of £48,00 whereas the actual cost of the yearly Love Lula Beauty Box subscription is £12,66 (or £16,60 for international customers) per month (yep, even less than it was before). You also get a discount on all the brands featured in a current Beauty Box and even this discount got even better – now you can get all the brands featured in a Beauty Box for 25% off!

Nov 212019

Rain these past weeks has been abundant and abundantly annoying, while Sun has been too shy behind, what seems, never ending clouds. Sure, it hasn’t been really cold, but chilly enough for my skin to crave more nourishing treatments. I do make sure to balance the textures, layers and frequency of certain products – in all my routines – evening and morning routines, which are followed by makeup routines.

I know it may seem like there’s a lot of products mentioned here and in a way – it is. But I do not use all the products at once or every day, and I’ve been using many of these products for a while now; I also do my very best not to hoard products or toss them aside before they are used up.

The links for all the products mentioned are at the end of the post.

My Evening Skincare Routine #5

My Evening Skincare Routine: Cleansing

My Evening Skincare Routine #5

Depending on my morning and makeup routine of the day, if I used more layers, I opt for a double cleansing routine with first using the Balm Balm Little Miracle Cleanser (from my September Love Lula Beauty Box) – an oil based, specifically – a rosehip oil based cleanser, which I gently massage into my skin, leave it on for a few minutes so that the warmth of my skin melts the oil cleanser. I then rinse the cleanser and use either a washcloth to entirely remove the oil cleanser of do a double cleansing by using the Alteya Organics Facial Cleanser & Wash in Rose & Jasmine: just as great as the Vanilla & Geranium one I’ve been using for a while now – it gently cleanses and removes any of the remaining impurities. For the removal of eye makeup, I continue using the gentle creamy and non-irritating Kathleen Natural Cleansing Lotion (currently discounted from £29,50 to £20,65!).

My Evening Skincare Routine: Toning

As always, using hydrolates is a must for me, so high quality Alteya Chamomile Hydrolate or Alteya Organics Lavender Hydrolate or a mixture of both.

My Evening Skincare Routine: Moisturizing

My Evening Skincare Routine #5

About once per week, I use the very rich Balm Balm Little Miracle Balm – and nothing else. When layering, I first use the light and amazing Ere Perez Quandong Green Booster Serum (read my full review here), which my skin cannot get enough of. Following this serum, I either use a thin layer of Jane Scrivner OO Cream, or a great and affordable BeBarefaced Vitamin C and E Corrective Oil or Ere Perez Australian Blue Cypress Face Nectar – another amazing product from this brand. Sometimes, I forgo the serums, and just use Barefaced Corective Oil or Ere Perez Face Nectar on their own. For the eyes, I’ve switched the Madara Eye Contour Cream (read my full review here) for my morning routine, and for my evening routine, I’ve been using a richer and thicker Laidbare Eye Cream (from my October Love Lula Beauty Box). For the neck area, I either use the very rich Nature’s Kitchen Rescue Cream or Nature’s Kitchen Super Protein Skin Boosting Anti-Ageing Moisturiser.

My Evening Skincare Routine: Masking

My Evening Skincare Routine #5

I’ve just received from Kathleen Natural the newly whipped up and launched Kathleen Natural Deep Pore Treatment Mask, targeting oily and congested skin – and wow – what a great mask this one is! A creamy texture, which dries in a few minutes, does not irritate the skin and the first results are visible immediately – and after a few treatments, the skin clears up. It came right on time as with colder weather and layered nourishing, rich and oily products, the skin needs a treatment to dissolve excess skin oil, and dry out any bumps. As I am still testing this mask, a full review will arrive upon a thorough testing has been done, but even before that, I can say this is another impressive product from Kathleen Natural. I’d like to point out that Kathleen Natural launched three other face masks, and they are now all available at Love Lula as well – and! – with a heavy discount – the one I’ve been using, for example, has been discounted from £24 to £16,80! Other masks I’ve been using are the Madara Peel Mask (read my full review here) for its acids effect on the skin – about once a week. For a moisturising booster, the tried and tested, affordable and much liked by my skin – the Bloomtown Indigo Soothing Mask (read my full review here) – a 15 minute treatment and my skin is happy.

My Evening Skincare Routine: Exfoliating

Once a week, I opt for a serious AHA/BHA treatment in a shape of Jane Scrivner AHA/BHA Resurfacing Exfoliator (I just make sure there’s a least a few days in between using Madara Peel Mask) – that’s the chemical part of the exfoliating. As far as the mechanical exfoliating goes, I switch between the L’Odaïtès Gentle Exfoliator (read my full review here) and my many-years favorite Andalou Naturals Lemon Sugar Facial Scrub. This exfoliating treatments span around 10 days, at least, with every third day or so one treatment being used.

My Evening Skincare Routine #5

Double cleansing is more often a part of my evening skincare routine now, facial oils, sometimes balms, and a great decongesting mask – and of course – a generous amount of hydrolates; this would be my mid Autumn evening skincare routine in short.

Nov 142019

With all the rain, chilly and moody weather, beautiful October all of the sudden seems so far… My morning skincare routine now consists of more oily textures, but since I use more creamy-based makeup, as well as more oily and nourishing – even layered – products in my evening skincare routine, I try not to overload my skin in the morning.

The links for all the products are the end of this post.

My Morning Skincare Routine #5

My Morning Skincare Routine: Cleansing

When I layer more products the previous evening (serum, mask, face oil), I opt for the affordable and nicely scented Alteya Organics Facial Cleanser & Wash in Vanilla & Geranium. I have just received the Alteya Organics Rose & Jasmine Facial Cleanser & Wash, and I can’t wait to give it a try. When I use just a light serum and a dab of face oil here and there the previous night, I opt for the Alteya Organics Cleanser, a gentle cream cleanser – also because when my evening skincare routine falls on the lighter side, I tend to use a facial mask in the morning, which means I’ll wash my face twice, and to not over-wash my face, I opt for this gentle cream cleanser.

My Morning Skincare Routine: Masking

My Morning Skincare Routine #5

As mentioned, when I use only a light serum and a dab of oil the previous evening, I use a facial mask the next morning. Once a week (with a few days in between) I use these two facial masks for a quick pick-me up: Madara Regene Volume Rebuilding Lifting Mask and Jane Scrivner Intense De-Stress Mask (full review here).

My Morning Skincare Routine: Toning

For toning, I keep the routine pretty much the same by switching  (and mixing) between the uplifting and refreshing Alteya Organics Melissa Water, as it helps balance and control oily skin during the day and the calming Alteya Organics Chamomile Hydrolate.

My Morning Skincare Routine: Moisturizing

My Morning Skincare Routine #5

The hydration base has been, most often, the Fom London Hydra Plump Serum (read my full review here) – as it’s a light. watery and fast absorbing. For the mornings, where my previous evening skincare routine has been a bit richer and layered, I apply Madara Deep Moisture Fluid. If my evening skincare routine has been lighter, I apply, after a serum, either a drop of L’Odaites Replenishing Serum (read my full review here) or the BeBarefaced Vitamin C and E Corrective Oil, which I’ve just started incorporating in my skincare routines and my skin is enjoying this affordable fast absorbing oil. For the eyes, I continue using the light Madara Eye Contour Cream (read my full review here).

My Morning Skincare Routine: Priming and SPF

I may not apply as a generous amount of this primer as during hot Summer days, but I still, nonetheless use it – just a bit more sparingly – the Alteya Organics Rose Otto Face Sunscreen SPF25 (read my full review here).

My Morning Skincare Routine In Short:

My Morning Skincare Routine #5

Depending on my previous evening skincare routine, I adjust my morning skincare accordingly: when I use richer and oilier textures, along with masks, and layered, I opt for a lighter morning skincare routine.
