Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner is a light, refreshing facial toner, while the Sukin Oil Balancing Clarifying Facial Tonic works as a final cleansing step, targeting, mainly, oily skin.

Sukin Toner Review

These two Sukin facial toners are each quite different and since I like trying and testing new facial toners – there’s always one I haven’t tried, right? The hydrating one is a light facial toner I’ve been mainly using in the morning to wash my face and to spray it before applying daily skincare products and makeup, while the clarifying tonic has a more numerous ingredients formulation, and I’ve been using it after a cleanser, especially on the days when I felt my skin needed a more thorough cleansing.

Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner

Sukin Hydrating Mist

A quite simple formulation, consisting of rose hydrolate and chamomile extract, which soothes the skin. My issue with this toner is that it consists of water, and it shows, as opposed to consisting only of hydrolates. Nonetheless, I’ve been using this toner in the morning, to wash my face, as it does not sting. I also use it before applying skin care products (moisturizer, serum, primer) and before applying makeup. It’s works nicely as a refreshment – be it to refresh my makeup or just during the day for a quick pick me up. This toner can be used as a body/hair spray as well, though given it’s not solely hydrolate based, the scent does not linger on for long.

How about the ingredients?

Ingredients: Aqua, Rosa Damascena Flower Water (Rose), Glycerin, Chamomilla Recutita Extract (Chamomile), Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid.

Chamomile has a calming and soothing properties, while rosa damascena hydrolate provides hydration. Given this is a water based product (hydrolate also falls under this classification), a preservative is a must, though I would have chosen a different preservative as opposed to Phenoxyethanol.

* * *

Sukin Oil Balancing Clarifying Facial Tonic

Sukin Balancing Tonic

This tonic has quite a number of ingredients; among them the extracts of white tea, pomegranate and bilberry, which work as antioxidants, while the cucumber extract provides hydration. Balancing Quince extract targets oily skin. As mentioned, this tonic feels heavier on the skin, and I’ve been using it as an added and final cleansing step in the evening; it cleanses the skin of any remnants of the impurities and makeup. The skin looks matte.

While the tonic consists of many calming ingredients, such as chamomile, aloe very, cucumber… it also consists of Coconut Fruit Extract – quite a fairly amount of it (along with a few other coconut based ingredients) – and this has been a reason for an occasional break out on my skin, especially, since this tonic contains a cleansing agent, derived from coconut. And this cleansing agent also gives this toner a bit of a cleanser texture, like that of foaming cleaning products. The scent is a mixture of lavender, citruses and a bit of pomegranate.

And the ingredients?

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Cydonia Oblonga Leaf Extract (Quince), Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (White Tea), Aspalathus Linearis Leaf Extract (Rooibos), Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract (Chamomile), Epilobium Angustifolium Extract (Willowherb), Punica Granatum Fruit Extract (Pomegranate), Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract (Bilberry), Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Polyglyceryl-5 Oleate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Backhousia Citriodora Leaf Oil (Lemon Myrtle), Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Leaf/Twig Oil (Petitgrain), Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene*, Linalool*. *Natural component of essential oils

Unlike the more simple formulation of the hydrating, the balancing toner consists of quite a few.
Aloe vera is hydrating and calming; also calming is chamomile. Another potent hydration booster is cucumber. Quince extract promotes balanced skin. Pomegranate, Bilbery and White tea extracts are a potent antioxidants. Rooibos tea and willowherb have antibacterial and balancing properties, while fragrant petitgrain has antiseptic properties. Lemon Myrtle, with its antibacterial properties, purifies and balances combination and oily skin.

Lime oil has an antiseptic and astringent properties. Lavender Oil  has antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Orange peel oil has antiseptic and anti-toxin properties. It rejuvenates the skin and acts as a natural exfoliator.

Coconut Fruit Extract; while coconut has many skin-beneficial ingredients, from being nourishing and hydrating, it can also be comedogenic for those, who have acne prone skin.

Potentially problematic ingredients?

  • Glyceryl Caprylate, a thickening agent and preservative; could be problematic due to enhancing skin absorption of other ingredients, restricted use in cosmetics.
  • Phenoxyethanol and Benzyl Alcohol: preservatives. Given this product contains water, a preservative is a must.

* * *

My final word?

Sukin Toner Review

The Sukin hydrating toner, even though it unnecessarily, in my opinion, contains water, is a light, refreshing rose and chamomile based toner. It feels like on the skin and has a subtle and gentle scent. Great for hydrating the skin before applying other products, whether skincare or makeup as well as for refreshing makeup throughout the day.

The Sukin balancing tonic walks a line between a strong cleansing toner and a mild cleanser; it thoroughly cleanses the skin of any remains of makeup and leaves the skin matte. Given it contains coconut and a coconut derived cleansing agent, it proved to be a bit comedogenic for my acne-prone skin.

Price? In a way, both are affordable (in a way because, especially, the hydrating toner consists of water): the balancing toner is £9,99 for 125ml and the hydrating is £7,95 for equally 125ml.

Have you tried any of these Sukin toners? How did you like them? Let me know!

Hello greenies! Spring is finally here, at least on paper! This week has been, even if super windy, sunny and warm and it felt like a remedy to be finally hopping around the forest; I feel like I’m bursting at my seams, finally being able to walk in the forest, inhaling the nature! I can’t recall the last time everyone was so desperately waiting for the Spring to arrive as we have this year. Speaking of the year – it’s nearly April already?!

For the life of me, lately, I can’t seem to pick the right color, be it foundation, BB cream, concealer… one is always too dark and the other too light, so I have to resort to getting two colors and mixing them up in various ratios. Though, the rule of thumb should be to rather buy a lighter shade and darken certain parts of the face with a bronzer, for example; much easier than to buy a shade too dark – you’ve got no room to correct it.

This week, I was quite a busy bee – I posted the deliciously smelling Pacifica Persian Rose Solid Perfume and Body Butter review, along with my first impressions of March Love Lula Beauty Box – so in case you’ve missed it, you can read my reviews over the weekend.

And before the weekend officially starts, as you’ve grown used to – I’ve collected many Spring sales, discounts, free gifts with purchase, new launches and much more that’s been happening in the green beauty world – all waiting for you below!

Mar 222018

First week of Spring (finally!) and here’s my March Love Lula Beauty Box! This month, Love Lula kept on throwing the green beauty goodies into the Beauty Box: there’s a total of 6 products, 3 full sized, two middle sized and one travel sized. The products cover hair care (shampoo and conditioner), face care (a facial oil, a face serum, a face cream) and body care (a deodorant). Of course, as every month, I had to do some sneaking around to see what’s in this month’s Beauty Box, and saw the beautiful new nail color from Glossworks Spring collection; I know there are shipping restrictions for nail polish outside of UK, but please allow me a minute to throw a mini tantrum for not receiving that beautiful nail polish. OK. *inhales* Still, even without the nail polish, this month’s Beauty Box is quite awesome and worth £48. Keep in mind that these are my first impressions of the products; many products will receive a full review in the future after being thoroughly tested.

So, what’s in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box?

Love Lula Beauty Box March 2018

  FOM London Hydra Bright Night Complex (10ml/£79 for a full 50ml size). I was hoping I won’t like this serum as it’s £79 for a full 50ml size. Alas, I’m chirping over this serum! A runny gel-like serum, loaded with super skin-beneficial ingredients, such as bilberry fruit, sugar maple, fig and green tea extracts, along with Lactic and Hyaluronic Acid and natural BHA acid – willow bark extract. It’s a BHA and AHA, all at once, serum, containing many moisturizing ingredients. The scent is a delicious geranium one – right after my heart. You could hear my skin going “slurp slurp” – it’s absorbed almost immediately, leaving the skin so incredibly soft. Given how smooth the skin looks, I had to try it as a makeup primer – and it works wonders as a primer! It will be excellent to use as a primer under the mineral powder during Summer, as it’s like a completely matte finish, the makeup glides smoothly and stays put all day. The full size is quite expensive, and I wish this serum was available in the 10ml bottle (it comes with a dropper) as well; not only it’s cheaper, but I prefer smaller sizes, so I can use up the product sooner and thoroughly. Wow, what a serum!

Elsa’s Organic Skinfoods Deodorant (full size 45g/£10). I’m already testing the Love Deodorant from Elsa’s; in this month’s Beauty Box, I got the Ocean one. I’m really liking the shape of these deodorants – it’s an oval one – thus application is more handy. The deodorants are soft and quite buttery, the scent long lasting. It is a bit on a smaller side and I found myself going through the Love one quite fast. As it’s a bit more buttery/oily, unfortunately, it can leave oily stains – but I’ve learned you should not swipe it too many times. Full review coming your way soon!

Sukin Shampoo and Conditioner (shampoo: travel size 100ml/£9,95 for a full 500ml size; conditioner: £7,95 for 250ml). I’m glad the sample/travel sizes of these two are bigger (1ooml each), so I can test them better. I’m testing another Sukin hair care duo, so I’ll include these two in my full review soon. But quickly: shampoo may not lather as richly, but cleanses the hair properly nonetheless. A small amount of conditioner and the hair is soft and easily combed through. Neither, the shampoo nor the conditioner do not feel heavy or greasy. The scent of all these Sukin hair care products give me a licorice-sih and minty vibes. The price is very low for generous amount of, especially, shampoo. I could, most certainly, do without PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate though.

Laidbare Guess My Age Face Cream (full size 50ml/£9,99). Light texture, which lingers on the skin for a bit, making it seem it won’t absorb fast – but it does. I’m not sure whether my skin is really *that* dehydrated, but this cream just… vanished. It contains quite a few vitamins and an anti-aging Exotic Passion Flower Oil. What’s making me, given my skin is acne-prone, pause is the fact this cream contains Isopropyl myristate, which is highly comedogenic; if your skin is not prone to acne, then you should be fine, but I, however, will exercise caution with this cream precisely due to this ingredient. Since I have another Laidbare cream waiting in line to be tested, I’ll post a full review of both.

Balm Balm Frankincense Light Facial Oil (full size 30ml/£15,50). Ingredients-wise, this is a simple formulation containing oils, with which you can never go wrong: jojoba and rosehip oil, along with rejuvenating and uplifting Frankincense oil from Balm Balm’s Frankincense collection. Affordable facial oil of a generous amount. But this is as much as I can say at the moment, as I am still testing/using a few other facial oils, so I left this one unopened for the time being; I do not practice having open 10 facial oils, only for most to then go to waste. So, having said that, this facial oil will receive its full review once I open it; given how many Balm Balm products I’ve already tried, I am certain it’s a good-quality facial oil.

As mentioned earlier, the UK Beauty Boxes received Glosswork Come Clay with Me nail polish, and since I’m still pouting over it, I’ll just post the photo of the nail polish, grab my toys other products from this month’s Beauty Box and go home. There.

An elegant packaging of the Pacifica Persian Rose Solid Perfume and Body Butter is matched only by their classic and elegant scent: that of an ancient rose.

Pacifica Persian Rose Solid Perfume and Body Butter Review

Pacifica – one of the most asked about and searched for brands – given I’ve been using the Pacifica products for years now; the same goes for this duo so this review comes quite late – but it’s here nonetheless!

Years ago – and in some cases even today – it was quite difficult finding a natural perfume, especially a solid one. Once I discovered Pacifica solid perfumes, even more precisely – the rose solid perfume, I was hooked! Tiny tins of solid perfume have been something I’ve been very fond of since I was a kid, and finding a natural solid perfume with a scent of roses, was quite exciting. Over the years, I’ve tried several of the Pacifica solid perfumes (the floral ones, mainly) but I always returned back to the Persian Rose one. I had these tiny tins everywhere, and once they were empty, I would re-use them for various handmade butters and lip balms.

To have a body butter matching the beautiful rose scent of a solid perfume (or visa versa) it’s an added bonus that Pacifica offers their rose-loving customers. Of course, there are other Pacifica products from the rose collection, such as perfume and roll on, as well as hair/body mists – the latter is what I’ve been trying to get my hands on for quite some time.

* * *

Pacifica Persian Rose Body Butter

The Pacifica Persian Rose Body Butter is of a medium thick texture; easily appliable, the body butter absorbs quite quickly and does not leave a greasy feeling. It should be noted that, as much as it’s tempting – due to scent – to apply less of the body butter,; this way, it will spread better and absorption will be faster.

The Pacifica Persian Rose Body Butter is a finely whipped body butter of many skin-beneficial, hydrating and nourishing ingredients, mainly – many butters, such as shea, mango and cocoa butter, along with many vegetable oils, promoting skin’s elasticity, hydration and nourishment. Upon applying this body butter, you will immediately notice your skin being velvety soft. While I mainly use body butters after a night shower and more rarely during Summer, this body butter, being light, fast absorbing and non-sticky, I use it after a morning shower as well; it does not stain the clothes either. Given these properties, I’ve been using this body butter as a hand cream as well.

Pacifica Persian Rose Solid Perfume and Body Butter Review

The scent of the The Pacifica Persian Rose Body Butter is heavenly for anyone who likes a rose scent. Of course, roses are in the front line, with a bit of a violets behind; after a while, the butter’s scent becomes a bit woody and spicy – difficult to precisely describe this wonderful scent. Aside from keeping the skin hydrated and nourished throughout the day (or night all into the morning), the scent stays quite powerful for most of the day as well.

* * *

How about the ingredients?

Ingredients: aqua (purified), caprylic/capric triglyceride (coconut source), helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, glycerin (vegetable source), glyceryl stearate (vegetable source), aloe barbadensis leaf juice, stearic acid (vegetable source), stearyl alcohol (vegetable source), butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, allantoin, theobroma cacao (cocoa) butter, hyaluronic acid, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, xanthan gum (vegetable source), algin (algae source), riboflavin (plant source), mangifera indica (mango) butter, rosa rugosa (rose) seed oil, daucus carota (carrot) seed oil, aleuritus moluccana (kukui) nut oil, macadamia ternifolia seed oil, linum usitatissimum (flax) seed oil, mixed tocopherols (vitamin E), panthenol (pro-vitamin B), parfum (Pacifica’s own fragrance blend with natural and essential oils), cucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit extract, arnica montana flower extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, camellia sinesis (white tea) leaf extract, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin (plant source).

Sunflower seed oil spreads easily and is  quickly absorbed. It is an antioxidant and a moisturizer and it promotes skin regeneration. Aloe vera hydrates and rejuvenates skin. Shea butter is a nourishing butter, renowned for its skin softening and moisture retaining ability. Cocoa butter helps to soften, moisturize, condition and protect dry skin. It also seals in moisture and improves skin elasticity. Hyaluronic acid promotes collagen production and skin elasticity. As an amazing water-retainer, it’s super hydrating.
Jojoba seed oil, an emollient, natural to skin’s sebum, it soothes the skin and promotes collagen production. Mango butter, an antioxidant and moisturizer, has healing and regenerative properties. Carrot seed oil smooths and tones the skin. Kukui nut oil is hydrating and easily absorbed.
Macadamia seed oil softens the skin and works as an anti-irritant. Flax seed oil softens and rejuvenates the skin.

Pacifica Persian Rose Solid Perfume

A tiny tin of elegant, mesmerizing natural wax solid perfume. The best way to describe the texture would be: it’s on a dry side, meaning, the solid perfume is non sticky or greasy and is easily used anywhere. The scent is in its own league: floral, with a rose being the queen she is, along with a subtle violet, making way for a bit of a fruity scent somewhere behind, especially later on. In short: an elegant and modern take on what ancient rose scent was. In a combination with the Pacifica Persian Rose Body Butter – heavenly!

Pacifica Persian Rose Solid Perfume and Body Butter Review

Since it’s a tiny tin, it’s portable and handy for re-application at any moment. The elegant and beautiful packaging is suitable for an equally elegant and beautiful scent inside.

How about the ingredients?

Ingredients: Organic cocos nucifera wax (coconut wax), organic glycine soja wax (soy wax), parfum (Pacifica’s own perfume blend with natural and essential oils), prunus armeniaca wax (apricot wax), caprylic/capric triglyceride (coconut source).

Simple and natural formulation of waxes and a blend of natural and essential oils – that’s it!

My final word?

Pacifica Persian Rose Solid Perfume and Body Butter Review

It’s not wonder Pacifica is one of the most popular green beauty brands out there; I’ve been receiving so many emails asking me about Pacifica products, and I promise I’ll write more reviews of this brand’s products in the future.

Anyone, looking for an elegant, beautiful rose scented body butters and solid perfumes – look no further; Pacifica Persian Rose Solid Perfume and Body Butter are your excellent choice. Beautiful packaging is just an added bonus. The body butter will leave your skin smelling great and feeling like velvet, while providing hydration and nourishment due to its many butters and vegetable oils. And the solid perfume, portable, non-greasy and smelling delicious – what’s not to like?

I hope Pacifica never stops making these beautiful products; I’ve been noticing there’s some shortage of quite a few Pacifica products lately, while at the same time, Pacifica has launched quite a few new products – from perfumes, to skin care products; as mentioned before, I hope the stores I shop at the most will start carrying Pacifica’s hair/body mists as well.

Oh, and the price for the solid perfume and body butter? Both fall under affordable, with the Pacifica Persian Rose Body Butter being around €17 for a generous 236ml tune and the Pacifica Persian Rose Solid Perfume being around €11 for a 10g tin; especially the solid perfume will last for quite some time.

I’ve been buying many Pacifica products for years now, with the rose solid perfume being my most often purchased product, and will continue to. Both the rose body butter and solid perfume come highly recommended by me!
