Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser Review
Size: 30ml/120ml

Ingredients: sucrose (sugar), potassium cocoate (saponified coconut oil),oryza sativa (rice) powder, cymbopogon flexuosus (lemongrass) oil, calendula officinalis (calendula) flower extract, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) flower extract, squalane & chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower/leaf extract, citrus aurantifolia dulcis (orange) peel extract, ascophyllum  nodosum (seaweed) extract, *aroma/fragrance,limonene, citral
*component of 100% pure essential oils

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser has been a staple cosmetic product of mine for number of years. Quite honestly, this is the best peeling/exfoliator I’ve found so far. It has a pleasant lemon smell due to lemongrass oil, which is, due to citric acid, a natural purifier that clears and cleanses the pores. Brown sugar crystals, soaked in various potent flower extracts, work as nonabrasive, natural AHA exfoliator, with the help of a natural orange peel extract and powdered rice. Calendula flower extract, along with Chamomile flower oil, has soothing, anti-inflammatory effect on the skin, along with its antioxidant properties. Lavender flower extract also works as an antibacterial ingredient, while skin-identical ingredient Squalane promotes skin’s regeneration. Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser helps with cleaning infected and clogged pores and smooths over the skin.

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser Review

After using Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser, my skin is smooth and supple, refreshed  and clean, with the remaining of any makeup and dead/dry skin cells exfoliated. My skin looks and feels rejuvenated, without the feeling of tightness, although a bit of a redness, if you rub too hard, may occur. The skin readily absorbs nourishing and moisturizing products, so I apply some toner and light serum during summer or face oil during winter.

How to use Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser? Lightly rinse your face and wet your palms. Use a toothpick to scratch and scoop out the cleanser (use about a coffee spoon amount – little goes a long way). Gently rub the cleanser either between your palms or with one finger, then apply it all over your face and rub it in circular motions. At the beginning, while the sugar hadn’t melted, the cleanser will work as exfoliator. When the exfoliator becomes dry, slightly wet the face and continue rubbing in circular motions; now the exfoliator turns into foamy creamy cleanser, as the sugar crystals have melted as you applied more water.

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser is suitable for all skin types, even for sensitive skin. It is not, however, suitable for rosacea or cystic acne, as sugar granules would prove to be too harsh. If you have very oily skin, I’d suggest you use this cleanser 2-3 times a week. For combination skin 2 times a week, while for dry skin, I’d suggest you use it once a week. I use it approximately every 5-6 days and the 30ml size lasts for about 3 months.

Price? 30ml approx. €12,7; 120 ml approx. €26,36.
If you’re used to buying synthetic exfoliator for €4, then Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser might seem pricey. But the potent ingredients and the amazing results it will leave your skin with are, in my opinion, well worth the price.

Have you tried Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser? What’s your favorite face peeling and/or face cleanser?

Psssttt… we’ll be giving away Suki Exfoliate Cleanser in the next days, so if you wish to win one, make sure you check back soon.

About a week ago, I received an elegant gift box with organic goodies from an up and coming British organic brand Mel Millis. Inside this elegant box was, aside from the Mel Millis Phytonutri Rose & Pomegranate Rebalancing Body Oil I will review today, also a travel trio and… a hand-written personal note to me from the gracious founder of Mel Millis. The (unfortunately almost lost art of) hand written note nicely corresponds with the aesthetics of Mel Millis brand: introduction of Mel Millis brand, an elegant menu of all the Mel Millis products, and the products themselves packaged in a recycled paper containing British wild seeds, which can be planted. Cute touch there, Mel Millis!

Mel Millis Phytonutri Rose & Pomegranate Rebalancing Body Oil Review

Mel Millis offers three lines of body oils: Re-energize (Neroli & Baobab), Rebalance (Rose & Pomegranate) and Revitalise (Frankincense & Myrrh). The lines draw inspiration from the circulation of life’s energy inherent in all things and the quest to obtain balance between the negatives and positives in our body.

Mel Millis 3 lines of body oils

I’ve chosen to review the Mel Millis Phytonutri Rose & Pomegranate Rebalancing Body Oil, especially since I really like beauty products which contain Rose Damascena.

Mel Millis Phytonutri Rose & Pomegranate Rebalancing Body Oil comes in a 100 ml dark glass bottle, which corresponds with a need to keep carrier and essential oils from direct light. I would have preferred a bottle with a pump for an easier application; a bottle like their face cleansing oil comes in.

Mel Millis Phytonutri Rose & Pomegranate Rebalancing Body Oil Review

Mel Millis Phytonutri Rose & Pomegranate Rebalancing Body Oil is of a medium thick texture, with a slightly brownish color. The scent –  unique, inviting and sensuous, indeed – is that of a bit of a fruity due to pomegranate. There’s a whiff of precious rose damascena oil scent, along with chamomile and neroli, while the scent of rosehip and geranium oil is more pronounced. The scent of this body oil lasts for hours, never over-powering. Mel Millis Phytonutri Rose & Pomegranate Rebalancing Body Oil absorbs pretty quickly, thus perfect for use in the morning when you dress up to face the day. You will notice your skin so very nourished and silky smooth.

Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients.

Argania Spinosa (argan oil), Rosa Canina (rosehip oil), Cucurbita Pepo (pumpkin seed oil), Punica Granatum (pomegranate seed oil), Adansonia Digitala (baobab oil), Rosa Rubignosa CO2 Extract (rosehip oil extract), Tocopherol (vitamin E), Pelargonium Graveolens (geranium oil), Rosa Damascena (rose), Anthemis Nobilis (chamomile oil), Citrus Aurantium (neroli oil), Rosmarinus Officinalis (rosemary oil)

Mel Millis Phytonutri Rose & Pomegranate Rebalancing Body Oil ingredients are expected to be found in some super expensive face oil, packaged in 15 ml bottle. Ingredients-wise, this is one of the most luxurious body oils I’ve ever seen. Argan carrier oil is rich in essential fatty acids and it’s known for its anti-aging and antioxidant properties. Rosehip oil is rich in Vitamin F (omega 3 and omega 6), promotes skin regeneration. Pumpkin seed oil is another potent antioxidant, rich with essential fatty acids and skin-firming and lifting properties. Pomegranate oil, the super-fruit, potent antioxidant and high in ellagic acid, promotes skin’s elasticity. Rosehip CO2 Extract, rich in Vitamin C, promotes skin’s hydration as well as collagen production. Geranium oil balances and regulates the sebum, promotes skin circulation and is a good lymphatic cleanser (used against cellulite). Precious Rosa Damascena Oil needs no explanation. Chamomile oil has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. Neroli oil, another expensive oil, has soothing properties, balances sebum and promotes skin-cell regeneration; it is also used against stretch marks. Rosemary oil is cell-renewal stimulant and promotes and improves circulation.

If these ingredients were in a facial oil, the facial oil would be luxurious; the fact that they are in a body oil, is – decadent (as in: self-indulgently highly pleasurable).

Price? £48/58€. Expensive? Yes. Quite. But so are the ingredients in this body oil. Mel Millis Phytonutri Rose & Pomegranate Rebalancing Body Oil is simply not a body oil to be used on a daily basis, but reserved for special pampering moments, even though its texture and quick absorption is perfect for using it any time. With no preservatives, aside from antioxidants in oils, it should be used in 6 months after opening. Would I buy it myself? Oh, I would, even though it would be rather difficult to pay 58€ for a body oil.

Having said that, the ingredients in this luxurious body oil and the formulation itself are completely suitable to be used as a face oil as well. We’ve consulted on this with the formulator and founder of Mel Millis, and she assured us that the body oil can be used as a face oil. When we apply that with 58€ for a 100ml oil with excellent and very expensive ingredients, then the price becomes reasonable. It may be too expensive for some, since there are body oils available for, say, 10€, but keep in mind the ingredients in these oils; while the ingredients are natural and in most cases organic, they are not such expensive ingredients as, for example, argan oil, rose damascena oil, neroli oil and chamomile oil.

This is one of the best, if not the best, body oils I’ve come across, thus I highly recommend Mel Millis Phytonutri Rose & Pomegranate Rebalancing Body Oil.

Our reader sent us the following question:

Hi
I’m traveling to India next month and looking for a good face wash. The air there is very polluted. Lots of dirt and grime in the air. I saw ur post about top beauty products but did not see face cleansers. Do you have any suggestions? I have normal skin.

Here are a few suggestions of organic face cleansers we find would suit normal skin in polluted environment:

Organic face cleansers for normal skin

1. Suki Creamy Foaming Cleanser 2. Dr Alkaitis Purifying Organic Cleanser 3. Antipodes Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Organic Cleanser 4. Suki Exfoliating Foaming Cleanser 5. Trilogy Cream Cleanser 6. Pai Skincare Camelia and Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser 7. Therapi Orange Blossom Cleanser 8. Santaverde Aloe Vera Cleansing Emulsion

A much praised Therapi Orange Blossom Cleanser for normal skin (you can read our review here) would be our first suggestion. It’s gentle, yet pretty effective with cleansing the skin.

Pai Skincare Camellia and Rose Organic Cleanser, as the name suggests, consists of camellia oil known for its effective cleansing properties, while universally excellent ingredient that is rose oil, hydrates and rejuvenates the skin. The cleanser also consists of another great natural cleansing oil – that is sweet almond oil.

Trilogy Cream Cleanser consists of rosehip oil, gentle yet effective when it comes to cleansing, as well as being known to smooth the skin. This cleanser consists of almond oil as well, along with sebum-identical ingredient that is jojoba oil and chamomile oil, known for its calming properties. Carrot oil consists of Vitamin A.

Antipodes Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Organic Cleanser consists of patchouli oil, known for its refreshing properties. It also contains carrot oil. It’s created for dehydrated skin and even normal skin needs hydration.

Dr Alkaitis Purifying Organic Cleanser is a gentle yet thorough cleanser. The ingredients include sebum-identical ingredient jojoba oil, along with coconut oil and shea butter. The cleanser is also rich in vitamins A and C.

Suki Moisture-Rich Cleansing Lotion is a versatile cleanser, suitable for most skin types. Avena Sativa has softening properties, while kaolin – clay has mild exfoliating and purifying properties.

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser is another great cleanser, which also works as an exfoliator. Made with brown sugar, which mildly foams upon mixing it with water, it also consists of natural salicylic acid found in White Willow Bark.

Santaverde Aloe Vera Cleansing Emulsion consists of aloe vera and apple juice providing moisture, while coconut and sesame act as cleansing agents. The cleansing emulsion is for demanding skin, which your skin would be in polluted environment.

Which would be the favorites of Nature of Europe? Therapi Orange Blossom Cleanser, Trilogy Cream Cleanser and Suki Exfoliate Cleanser.

We would also suggest you use a toner after using a cleanser, as it cleanses the remaining dirt, as well as freshens and rejuvenates the skin, along with making the skin more susceptible for absorption of the face cream or serum.

A few toners we’d suggest for normal skin:

Toners for normal skin

1. Santaverde Aloe Vera Toner 2. Therapi Orange Blossom Toner 3. Bodhi & Birch Rosa Rosa Hydrating Toner 4. John Masters Organics Rose & Aloe Hydrating Toning Mist

Another option is a cleansing oil. Cleansing oil is a mix of carrier and essential oils with cleansing properties. We would recommend a travel trio from Mel Millis (review coming soon), which consists of a daily cleansing oil, mist tonic and a face oil.

Mel Millis Travel Trio and Konjac Sponge Company

Konjac Sponge might also prove to be useful: it’s perfect for travel due to its small size and has great cleansing properties, being infused with skin-cleansing green clay.

Which cleanser have you been using thus far? Do any of the suggested cleansers sound like they’d be suitable for your skin? Let us know which one you’ve picked.

Hopefully this was helpful. We wish you a safe trip. And don’t forget to send us a virtual postcard.
